Registration for 2027 has begun

Today, August 1, registration opened for the next Fossavatnsgangan at skraning.fossavatn.is. Now is the time to register for the country's most famous and historic ski race.

Dates

Fossavatnsgangan (12.5, 25, and 50 km) will be held on Saturday April 17, 2027. The Night Race (35 and 70 km) takes place 14th April and the free style race (25 km), along with the children's and family races (1 and 5 km), will be 15th April. New official waxing service

The official waxing service for the Fossavatngangan is now available in the online store and at registration. Two options are offered so that skiers can arrive at the starting line with perfectly prepared skis.

Don't forget the party ticket

While the cake buffet is included in the ticket, the party is an addon. It is one of the highlights of the weekend. Tickets are available in the online store or with registration, and we encourage everyone to secure their tickets in advance, as they often sell out.

Fossaþrek begins in September

In September, Fossaþrek begins in Ísafjörður, a training program that prepares racers for the upcoming winter. The sessions are open to everyone, whether people are taking their first steps on skis or aiming for the summit.

Gyms and fitness entrepreneurs are welcome to use the workout plans in whole or in part, and call them Fossaþrek or just whatever they like. The more people who are in good shape when the snow comes, the better. The ski trainers (SkiErg or similar) are remarkably widespread, being popular in Crossfit.

Set a goal for the winter

Fall is the time to look ahead. Whether the goal is to complete your first 12.5 km, improve your time in the 50 km race, or simply enjoy the outdoors this winter, now is the right time to set your goals and sign up.
