General rules of Fossavatnsgangan

Fossavatnsgangan is a public tunnel and follows rules FIS (International Ski Federation). A foreign observer monitors that the tournament follows international rules.

In the main race on Saturday, you can only ski in classical style. We have a special competition on the Thursday of the same week as the main parade where skating is allowed. Our staff has been instructed to pay close attention to the fact that skating is not taken in the classical race on Saturday, we will use phones and cameras to prove this. If a competitor is found to be using an skating technique, he will be disqualified from the competition.

For safety reasons, all competitors in the 50 km and 25 km on Saturday are required to use a backpack (not in the 25 km freestyle on Thursday)

The bag must reach 1.5 kg and contain; warm pants, warm jacket, hat and mittens. If the backpack does not reach the minimum weight or if the above mentioned items are not in the bag during staff inspection, a penalty time of 15 minutes will be added to the final time.

Competitors must wear competition vests so that they are clearly visible on the chest, it is forbidden to break or change them in any way. Competition organizers are allowed to ask for identification to confirm that the competitor is using the correct competition vest. However, it is possible to change your registration before the competition starts for a small fee at the competition office. Care must be taken not to damage the timing cup located at the top of the competition vest. It is not allowed to use music in the ears during the competition.

If the start is delayed, the time limit may change, but this is subject to the decision of the race director.

Environment

Participants are responsible for taking all litter with them and must not leave anything behind during the race. If a participant is seen throwing trash while racing, 15 minutes will be added to the time.

There are no glasses at the drinking stations, so participants who want to drink there must bring a glass or bottle to fill up.

Complaints must be sent to the timing tower. A complaint fee of ISK 3,000 must be paid.

Complaints relating to the competition itself must be received half an hour after the competitor finishes the walk.

Complaints related to timekeeping must be received within half an hour after the time has been confirmed.
