Snow, weather and tracks

Spring has come at us with quite some speed the last few days. Snow has been melting and will continue to melt until Friday night, when the forecast indicates it will freeze just in time for our main race day. Weather on Saturday is forecast to be excellent.

Our course directors have decided that the 50 k race will take place going twice through 25 k track. This will help the groomers making sure the start and finish will have enough snow. The course will be very similar to previous years', with slight alterations depending on local conditions.

Courses will be groomed sporadically the next couple of days, so as to preserve as much snow as possible. Early visitors are more than welcome to use the tracks that are already in the mountains. On Wednesday, the tracks for the night race will be groomed. "Skíðasvæði Ísafjarðarbæjar" is here on Facebook, it's the local skiing area. They post news regularly.

In addition to the official Met office's pages www.vedur.is and www.gottvedur.is, note that we have our own weather stations, see the towards the bottom on the Fossavatnsgangan website, www.fossavatn.is . Fossavatn.is. Waxing guide will be presented on Friday.

This is going to be a great race!

We try to keep you informed on Facebook and Instagram.
