Dagur and Anniken First in the Fossavatnsgangan Free Style

Dagur Benediktsson from Ísafjörður Ski Association and the Norwegian Anikken Gjerde Alnæs won the 25 km Fossavatnsgangan Free Style that took place at Seljalandsdalur last night. Dagur finished the race in 01:12:09.1 and Anikken in 01:16:19.6. Next in the men's race came Magnus Waaler, from Norway, and Stefano Zanotto from Italy. The second place in the women's race went to Heli Annika Heiskanen from Finland and Karoline Næss from Norway was in third place.

A total of 75 participants from 16 countries completed the free style race, which is a 25 km long, fairly tough route, with a total ascent of 520 meters, the longest climb being 115 meters. The track conditions yesterday were quite good; cloudy, little wind and about three degrees below zero.

The Family Fossavatnsgangan, a 5 km race, and the Children's Fossavatnsgangan, a 1 km race with a game track, also took place yesterday.
