Timing in the competitions

The Icelandic company Timataka.net takes care of timing our competitions. The results can be accessed in real time, but you can also see how the competitors are doing, including the estimated finishing time, on urslit.fossavatn.is.

The timing flag is on the number and the side of the number with the flag on it should face forward and be clearly visible when crossing the timing mats. It is very important not to fold the number in order not to damage the timing chip.

There is a floating start in the tunnels on Saturday, but the first start in each distance will have the same start time or so-called "gun time". All competitors receive a chip time that is measured from the time the participant crosses the timing mat at the start of the walk.

The gun time is the time that counts for the results of the walk, so we encourage participants who are competing for victory to attend the first group.

Intermediate times are taken at drinking stations in the course; at Búrfell, Heiðin and Nónvatn.

The chip time will be sent to everyone who registers their mobile phone number during registration via text message shortly after they reach the finish line.
